The Drylaw & Telford Community Council will hold its AGM on Wednesday 24th August 2016 in Drylaw Neighbourhood Centre. 

This will be their AGM as the previous one called couldn’t go ahead as the meeting wasn’t quorate in June.

The Community Council have also confirmed the timetable for Community Council Elections which will take place later this year.

The timetable is as follows:

Elected Representatives   (10 members).
Monday 5 September 2016 Notice of Election (start of nomination period)
Monday 26 September 2016 Close of Registration (forms to Returning Officer)
Thursday 6 October 2016 Notice of Poll (if a poll is required)
Thursday 27 October 2016 Polling Day (if a poll is required)
Nominated Representatives   (5 members)
Monday 5 September 2016 Notice of Election
26 September 2016 Close of Registration (forms to Community Council Liaison Officer)
TBA Meeting of registered Local Interest Groups to elect Nominated Members (if necessary)

The minimum age to stand for election as a community councillor is 16 years.

Qualification for elected membership is by residency within the specific community council area and must also be named on the electoral register for the community council area in which they reside they will stand only as an individual and not as a representative of a constituted group.

If you wish to represent a constituted group your group may apply via the Nominated Representative Group process.

Nominated representatives need not appear on the electoral register for the community council provided that they remain voluntary, active members of the nominating group. Nominating groups must register with Community Council Liaison Officer.

Some young people under the age of 16 ¾ may not appear on the electoral register so registering can be confirmed by other means such as school registration.

The maximum number of elected and nominated representatives for Dry law Telford Community Council is 15 (10 elected members and 5 nominated members).

 Nomination forms will be available from Monday 5th September 2016 from the CEC website  www.edinburgh.gov.uk/communitycouncils  or direct from Councillor Lesley Hinds (returning officer) by emailing  lesley.hinds@edinburgh.gov.uk
