Civil stroll to the top of the Lowland League

Local side Civil Service Strollers moved top of the Lowland League after a convincing 7-1 win at home to league strugglers Vale of Leithen today.

Gary Jardine’s side went into the game on the back of three wins on the bounce after seeing off Bonnyrigg Rose, East Kilbride and Rangers Colts in recent weeks.

The Muirhouse outfit went in at the interval with a 3-1 lead after goals from Balde, Johnson and Faye.

Vale offered nothing in the second half and Balde and Faye both bagged a brace and Moffat and a trialist scored the other two.

Along the road and Spartans maintained their recent good form with a 2-0 win over Broomhill and are fourth in the league with a game in hand.

Blair Henderson fired Dougie Samuel’s side in front on the half hour mark after Scott Maxwell played him in.

Jamie Dishington capitalised on a keeping error in the 70th minute and slotted the ball into the empty.

After the game Spartans keeper Blair Carswell was presented with a gift after making 200 appearances for the club.
