Teenager injured after joyriders knock her off her bike in Drylaw

Police are hunting two joyriders who left a teenage girl injured after they knocked her off her bike in Drylaw last night.

The incident happened just before 9pm after thugs stole two mopeds form Domino’s Pizza shop on Ferry Road.

One of them then drove onto the pavement towards the pedestrianised route that leads to Easter Drylaw and hit the 13-year-old girl and knocked her off her bike.

She was taken to hospital by ambulance and later released having suffered several cuts and bruises.

Inspector Keith Forrester from Drylaw Police Station said: “The behaviour of these males was extremely reckless and I was very relieved to hear that the 13-year-old girl’s injuries were thankfully minor.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this crash or who can help us identify the males on the mopeds.

“If anyone has any information that may help with the investigation in to this serious incident, please can you call 101 and quote the reference number 2675 of 29 March 2020.”

This is the second time joyriders have knocked a kid over in the area.
A ten-year-old boy was left with life-changing injuries after being knocked down on the pedestrian crossing outside the police station.
