Spartans made the trip to Alloa yesterday for their Lowland League game against BSC Glasgow.

Dougie Samuel’s men were looking to get back to winning ways after back-to-back defeats against Gala Fairydean Rovers and East Kilbride.

Both teams took their time to settle into the game and Jamie Glasgow fired BSC in front when he got on the end of a long ball forward and took it down on his chest before his volley nestled low in the corner of the net.

Harry Stone in the Spartans goal almost gifted the home side their second when he fumbled a cross but was quick to recover and gathered the ball at the feet of the striker.

BSC started to dominate the possession and Mikey Anderson doubled their lead just before the interval with an effort from long range.

Spartans had a chance to pull one back when Allan Brown got on the end of a cross but his header was straight at the keeper.

Into the second half and Ryan Tierney made it three nil for Stephen Swift’s side when he was played and prodded the ball beyond the keeper.

Wilson in the BSG goal had to react quickly when a Spartan corner was whipped in and looked dangerous but the stopper beat the striker to it and punched the ball away.

In the closing stages a mixup in the BSC defence saw the defender head the ball over the top of the advancing keeper and into his own net. But the home side took all three points.

In the East of Scotland League local side Craigroyston welcomed Edinburgh South to St Marks Park.

The visitors scored three times in the first half to go in with a 3-1 lead.

Despite Ryan Dinse’s team pulling it back to 3-2 a few minutes in the second half they couldn’t find an equaliser.
