A VIGIL has been held for three-year-old Mikaeel Kular whose body was found a year ago.

Members of the local community flocked to join in the search for Mikaeel who had gone missing from his home – only to find the boy had been killed by his mother and his body dumped in Fife.

Residents in the Edinburgh community where he lived gathered for a minute’s silence near the family’s former home in Ferry Gait Crescent, Muirhouse.

Those affected by the tragedy were invited to Linear Park in Muirhouse at 6pm for a candlelight vigil before a minute’s silence at 6.15pm.

One of the organiser’s Michelle Donald said “I would like to say a big well done to everyone who turned up for Mikaeel.

“It was heartbreaking but very touching to see our community come together once again.

“All the toys, flowers and candles were gorgeous.

Thanks to Lisa Shanley and Robert Pearson who also help organise this vigil”
